Tartan Design

An exciting way to create something truly individual for your family or business, or a perfect alternative gift.

All we need are 4 or 5 colours in order of preference and a brief background, for us to create some tartan designs for you to choose/tweak as necessary.  Once a decision is made, you’ll receive a CAD and yarn samples for approval.  We can then register your tartan with the Scottish Tartan Registry and provide a framed certificate with their official seal.

Costs start at just £200 (plus tartan registration fee)

Special Weaves

If you decide to design and register a tartan (or for many already registered), these have to be specially woven.   The mill set up a loom specifically, using the registered thread counts and colours, in a quality of your choosing, depending on what you want to use the fabric for. 

Weaving time is around 18 weeks with a minimum order of 12 yards.

Alterations & Repairs

While your kilt should last a lifetime, we can’t guarantee your waistline will do the same.  Luckily, Just Kilts can (usually) help.  From moving straps & buckles, to altering aprons, our experienced kilt makers can take your kilts apart as well as put them together.  Contact us with some initial information and we’ll let you know what we can do.

Or maybe those moths have been having a feast on your family heirloom.  We’ll try to help with that too.  Invisible mending or replacing the apron……there’s usually a solution somewhere.  Send us some pictures and we’ll give you our honest opinion.

Tartan by the Yard

With access to the finest weaving mills in Scotland, Just Kilts can also provide tartan by the yard.  Available in a huge range of fabric compositions, weights and widths, just contact us with your tartan choice and what you want to use it for, and we’ll let you know the options.
